C. Andrew Hovan

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, writer/photographer/musician C. Andrew
Hovan has been active in the field of jazz since his days at the Berklee College
of Music in the mid-'80s. He has been a past trustee of the
Northeast Ohio Jazz Society and a jazz dee-jay at WCPN-FM.  

A freelance musician and record collector, Hovan has been a
contributor to the MusicHound album reference guides for jazz and
swing, and is a regular contributor to ALL ABOUT JAZZ, THE JAZZ
REVIEW, and DOWN BEAT.  Hovan also regularly pens liner notes and has done
so for the independent Criss Cross Jazz label, Sharp Nine, Water Music, and Mighty Quinn.

Hovan has been documenting the jazz scene in Cleveland and abroad
with his camera for many years now and his reviews and photos are
regularly featured at ALL ABOUT JAZZ.  In addition, he has traveled to
Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton, Ann Arbor, Detroit, Boston, Toronto, New
York City, etc. to cover jazz festivals and performances.

Hovan's photographs have been seen in a variety of publications
including DOWN BEAT, THE NEW YORK TIMES, and in Mark C.
Gridley's jazz textbook JAZZ STYLES.
